i am probably the most unsporty person you would ever meet. i was that girl in primary school who'd tip the ball on the teeball stand and run like hell on advice from the boys on my team who knew i sucked at sport. but that's okay because when i was 6 i came third in my 100m sprint (just don't ask how i did in the years after that). so yes i am not sporty, but i love watching tennis. mum and i are two of the biggest rodger federer fangirls you could possibly meet. from his serve to his hair we love him all. all of the fed.so after i missed wimbledon the first year i was in london i couldn't possibly miss going to see it in my second year! along with some friends we made the commitment to wake up ridiculously early and join the queue to get in. we started lining up at about 6:30am and we were in by about 10am, before the first match started. the brits know how to queue. there's no pushing, there's no disrespect and we made friends with the two lovely ladies in front of us who had been attending wimbledon for the last two decades. they shared stories of when they used to camp out on the footpath and gave us tips on how to see the players - like going straight to the practice courts. we did that and saw maria sharapova, as well as a bunch of other players who i'm afraid i didn't know...








when at wimbledon, one must have pimms.

This is by far, one of the coolest design projects I've seen. It was commissioned for the Sony office in London (right near where my old housemate works) and it combines two things I really love: music and typography.

The Sony Music Timeline by Alex Fowkes celebrates 125 years of musical history covering almost 150 square meters of wall space in Sony’s Derry Street headquarters. Using just CNC cut vinyl as the sole medium, 54 columns measuring over 2 meters tall cover feature nearly 1000 of Sony Music's signed artists from 1887 to the present day.

 I can't even really say much more about it without doing some serious gushing, but watch the videos and look at the photos. I wish I could see it in real life! Maybe I'll be able to wrangle a peek when I visit  London next...

music gig // MT @ ridley road market bar Posted by Helena

My dear friend Mikey had a residency with his band MT at Ridley Road Market Bar (back in June now... whoops - delayed post!) and we finally made it along to see him. He is incredible! He was in a band a few years ago called Yves Klien Blue and they were pretty successful in Australia. I really dig his new stuff. His voice is somewhat reminiscent of Brandon Flowers and all of his songs are so catchy. He's got amazing great stage presence and you literally can't take your eyes off him - probably helped because he's always bouncing around, climbing up on things and wandering into the crowd! He's already supported Pete Doherty twice (yeah, Pete Doherty!) and Adrian Grimshaw and I think things are only on the up and up for him!

Spotted: Dan Humphrey skateboarding in Brooklyn. No really, I saw Penn Badgley. He nearly ran us over as we crossed the street today!

I've been so silent of late, but I've been globe trotting! I went to Turkey for 10 days, back to London for 48 hours, then flew to New York. I leave for home (Australia home) tomorrow and then I'll have plenty of time to blog. Expect a lot of photos!
